The paper addresses the self-assessment of transport platform workers about their work experience. The analysis combined quantitative and qualitative methodologies based on microdata from the "Platform Workers" module of the National Continuous Household Sampling Survey, collected by IBGE, and empirical material from 43 interviews with drivers and delivery workers in Rio de Janeiro. The analysis explored how regulated work ("with a formal contract") opposes platformized work from the workers' perspective. Our evaluation considered both the workers' native elaboration on their own experience and the literature on the subject, supported by PNAD-C data on formal, informal, and platformized work characteristics. Despite essential nuances explored in the paper, our evidence shows that contrary to what much of the critical literature claims, transport platform workers' assessment of their own work is one of relative satisfaction, especially considering their perception of autonomy, understood both as the possibility of organizing their own working hours and the absence of direct personal subordination).
